Accounting Clerk

Winthrop & Weinstine is seeking a full-time Accounting Clerk to work on the team in our Accounting Department. The responsibilities and qualifications for this position will include, but are not limited to:
  • Apply client payments to open invoices on a daily basis, including some internal reporting when high priority payments are received.
  • Create and maintain daily electronic storage of accounting records using existing software.
  • Perform several monthly bank reconciliations for low activity accounts.
  • Prepare and input journal entries for recurring charges and interest earned by firm investments.
  • Assist with specific Accounts Payable functions, including assembly of bi-weekly vendor payments, processing emergency checks, uploading daily positive pay file to the bank and entering vouchers for payment.
  • Work collaboratively to process client trust transactions.
  • Assist clients, both internal and external, with questions about cash applications and trust funds.
  • Provide quality, responsive customer service to clients and co-workers.
  • Assist others in the department and complete other projects and assignments as needed.
  • General understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy in all work product.
  • Ability to work with a persistent sense of urgency.
  • Ability to handle diverse and sometimes heavy workload and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced work environment with tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and able to solve problems independently.

  • Individuals must have a high school degree or equivalent and have at least one year of work experience, preferably in accounting.
